Illinois DUI License Suspension Attorney

We Fight to Keep Your Driving Privileges

For many people arrested for DUI, the prospect of license suspension is worse than a criminal record or even jail time. In the suburbs and outstate Illinois, having a car is essential to employment and everyday life.

At Michael T. Norris, Ltd. and John W. Callahan, Ltd., we understand that loss of your driving privileges would be devastating. Unlike other law firms, we will not let you surrender your license without a fight. We take immediate action to put the burden on the Secretary of State's office.

We understand what's at stake and we know how to challenge license suspension. Call us at 1-877-FELONY-3 for skilled representation in DuPage County or Kane County, Illinois.

DuPage County DUI License Suspension Lawyers
Petition to Rescind Statutory Summary Suspension

Your driver's license is confiscated at the time of arrest, but you can still drive until your license is officially suspended. In Illinois, Statutory Summary Suspension (SSS) begins on the 46th day after your arrest. The attorneys of Michael T. Norris, Ltd. and John W. Callahan, Ltd. will file motions to try to prevent the automatic suspension.

  • If the Secretary of State fails to schedule a hearing within 30 days of our motion, you cannot be suspended. We have helped clients keep their license through this proactive approach.
  • If you are granted a hearing before the 30-day time limit, we are prepared to fight for you. We file motions to dismiss evidence on constitutional grounds. We obtain the squad car video and aggressively cross-examine the arresting officer. We have won these cases, too.
  • If the Secretary of State does suspend or revoke your license, we will work to get you an MDDP hardship permit that allows you to resume driving without restrictions if this is your first offense. (Repeat offenders may qualify for a restricted driving permit.)
  • We will also prepare you for a license reinstatement hearing to get your full license back, sometimes before the statutory suspension/revocation period is over.
