JOHN CALLAHAN: Class X is the largest classification in Illinois for felonies, meaning it's where the largest amount of drugs are found. It's also the strongest and most harsh sentence that a defendant can face. It's a minimum of six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections all the way up to 30 and then sometimes even more than that.
MICHAEL NORRIS: Probation is not an option in a class X felony. That being said, there's always an exception. It's like this law is eternal, except if you have a good lawyer. You can get class X felonies reduced to a felony that would allow you to get probation.
